19-20th c. Chinese Embroidered Silk Imperial Robe
Chinese woman's imperial court robe, late 19th to early 20th century. With gold couched thread embroidery on cobalt blue silk ground depicting dragons, clouds, water, and mountains interspersed with Buddhist auspicious symbols.
Full Length: 51 in x shoulder-to-shoulder: 29 in x sleeve: 29 in.
Condition: Wear throughout consistent with age and use. Some loose fibers, particularly along the shoulders of the garment and extreme edges of the sheet. There is some soiling and toning throughout, especially along the interior of the garment, but also along the shoulders. There is one apparent missing button along the lowest loop of the robe.
