Novelty - Cast Iron Mechanical Bank
Gray, Red, Blue and White. Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Ct. - Pat.'d Oct. 28, 1873. From the Haradin Family Collection. To operate the Novelty Bank, you must firmly pull the doorknob towards you. The teller will then appear with his tray to receive your coin. Upon releasing the knob, the powerful spring-activated door will quickly snap shut to effectuate your deposit. The Stevens Company produced the Novelty Bank in a multitude of colors, depending on the prevailing tastes of the period. These are both very superior examples of the Novelty Bank.
