War Merit Cross 1st Class 1939 with swords - manufacturer "43".(Kriegsverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse 1939 mit Schwertern). The decoration from World War II, established on October 18, 1939. Awarded for war merits not eligible for the Iron Cross. The cross with swords was awarded for actions under the fire of the enemy or for merit in command. Die struck, alloy construction bravery award with a german nickle/silver plate is in the form of a Maltese style cross with a circular centerpiece with an embossed, canted, swastika encircled by an oak-leave wreath to the obverse. The swords, indicating bravery, emanated upwards between the arms of the cross. The background field of the obverse centerpiece is smooth while the arms of the cross have a pebbled background field with raised, smooth, outer edges. The plain, reverse has a soldered, solid style hinge with a broad pin and catch all intact. Maker marked "43" for Julius Bauer Söhne Zella Mehlis/Thur. Scarce maker.
Condition: Good condition with traces of hard wear. As the pictures shown.
