A Russian icon of Saint Pantaleon of Nicomedia - 19th Century
egg tempera on wood, depicting "Saint Pantaleon of Nicomedia" (Panteleimon), the patron saint of physicians. Born in the Roman province of Bithynia, in what is modern Turkey, St Pantaleon (c275-303) was martyred during the persecution of Christians ordered by the Emperor Diocletian. Dimensions 22.2 x 18.4 x 1.8 cm. Item condition grading: **** good (defects).
