A German ivory Oliphant (hunting horn) - 19th Century
elephant ivory (Loxodonta africana Blumenbach, 1797 or Elephas maximus Linnaeus, 1758) carved in high-relief with floral motifs and terminating in a dog's head; in the center a ruler's bust facing left. Lenght 51 cm, diameter 5.2 x 4 cm. Weight 840 gr. Item condition grading: **** good (minor losses). Ce.S.Ar. Certificate of antiquity (pre-1947).
