TOSCANINI, Arturo (1867-1957) - Contratto dattiloscritto firmato per la direzione di sei rappresentazioni e pagina autografa con il programma musicale di due concerti. Milan: 16 Dicembre 1919-16 Febbraio 1920. The contract, signed with Alfredo Carlotti, La Scala's First oboe and later an important musical impresario, refers to the direction of 4 concerts and 2 works. Aida and Tosca which would be held in Prague from March 6 to March 28, 1920. The fee was of 3,000 lire per representation, corresponding to 3,500 euros today. The autograph document, dated 16/02/1920 shows the draft of the lineup of the first two concerts with pieces by classical and contemporary composers. A nice testimony on the "commercial" background of Toscanini's activity as director. (290 x 220mm). [1] typescript on letterhead "Concerti Prof. Cav. Alfredo Carlotti, autograph signature (some creasing). [2] Autograph manuscript in pencil and pen on letterheaded paper "Concerts Prof. Cav. Alfredo Carlotti (some creasing and slight marginal tears). All within [3] envelope "Concerts Prof. Cav. Alfredo Carlotti" (some tearing).
