A PAIR OF VINTAGE WATERCOLORS WITH SEA VIEWS
A pair of unsigned watercolors with sea views. One watercolor depicts a stormy sea, waves overwhelm a tiny island with a lighthouse, ships are visible in the distance. The second watercolor depicts a calm water surface, a small boat with two people, and again - a small island with a lighthouse in the central part of the picture. Both works were undoubtedly executed by the same unknown artist. Europe, first half of the 20th century. Provenance: from the estate of 1950's NYC newspaper editorialist Elburn Rochford. Rochford was the granddaughter of 19th Century American corrupt mayor Alonso "Dirty Doc" Ames in Minneapolis Minnesota.
Dimensions: 13 x 9 in., (33 x 23 cm.)
