A long letter expressing the Bluzhever Rebbe’s greetings to Rabbi Dr Avigdor on his engagement as well as his best wishes to the President of the Mexico Jewish Community Rabbi Shimon Feldman.
Rabbi Yisrael Shapira (1890-1990), son of Rabbi Yehoshua of Rybotycze and Bluzhev (son of Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech of Bluzhev) and son-in-law of Rabbi Shalom David Unger of Zhabne. Prominent chassidic leader in post-WWII New York, after losing his family and suffering terribly during the Holocaust. Author of Shufra De’Yisrael.
Rabbi Dr Yaakov Avigdor (1896-1967), born to a prominent rabbinic family in Galicia. Rabbi of Drohobitsch - Boryslaw (1920), also serving as Rabbi of 80 towns and villages in the surrounding area. Rabbi Avigdor suffered terribly during the Holocaust and lost his first wife and children. After WWII he settled in New York as Rabbi of the Chovevei Torah community and Rosh Yeshivas Rabbi Shlomo Kluger, before being appointed Chief Rabbi of Mexico.
