Interrogation of a witness by a Rabbinical Court in Szombathely, Hungary, regarding the disappearance of a Jewish woman in Auschwitz. The witness is questioned in detail about her knowledge of when and where ‘Chaya Sarah the wife of R. Mordechai Stein’ was last seen in the concentration camp etc.
The document is signed in Szombathely by a Rabbinical Court headed by Rabbi Yosef Grunwald, the famous Rabbi of Papa.

Rabbi Yosef Grunwald (1903-1984), son of Rabbi Yaakov Yechezkiya of Papa and studied under his father. Appointed Dayan in Szatmar and succeeded his father as Rabbi and Rosh Yeshiva in Papa in 1941. The Rabbi of Papa suffered terribly during WWII and lost his wife and ten children. After the liberation, he remarried and returned to Papa and attempted to rebuild Jewish life there. After a short period, he left Hungary with a group of his students established a Yeshiva in Antwerp, Belgium, but left in 1951 to settle in New York, where he established a large community and Yeshiva Kehillas Yaakov – Papa and served as Vice President of the Hisachdus Harabbanim.
