‘NEGED KOL YISRAEL BEAZNEHEM’ - PUBLIC LETTER ANNOUNCING THE RETURN TO JUDAISM OF AN APOSTATE, YEHUDA KATARYUAS.

In this letter Yehuda Kataryuas describes how he was ensnared by missionaries, and now regrets his conversion and wishes to return to his ancestral faith and is prepared to undergo any form of penitence that the rabbis shall order on him.
London 1810. Printed by Alexander. Very Rare! Not in British Library or JNUL.
Catalogue of Anglo Jewish Historical Exhibition 1887 No. 867.
Little is known about Kataryuas, except that he was from Tzefas or Teverya and studied at Teverya. He may be related to Rabbi Shemaryahu Kataryuas, who travelled to North Africa as a Shadar in 1755.
