A GILT-BRONZE FIGURINE OF A CAUCASIAN WARRIOR
An antique Russian gilt-bronze figurine of Imam Shamil. Imam Shamil is depicted in the national Caucasian costume, with a saber at his belt and a dagger. The statuette is set on a red marble base.Shamil (1797 - 1871) - the leader of the Caucasian highlanders, in 1834 recognized as the imam of the theocratic state - the North Caucasian imamate, in which he united the highlanders of Western Dagestan and Chechnya. The national hero of the peoples of the North Caucasus.
