A SET OF TWO AMERICAN SILVER CIGARETTE CASES
Two early 20th-century sterling silver cigarette cases. One cigarette case is gilded inside, marked "SHREVE & CO.", "STERLING" and "SWETT & CRAWFORD". With engraved initials "HMG" on the lid. The second cigarette case, also with traces of gilding inside, is marked "STERLING", number 2525 and the manufacturer's stamp. The lid is engraved with an image of a mythical bird and a ribbon with the motto in Latin: "MANUS IN HONOREM VARATA (?)" On the back there is an engraved rhombus with stripes.Weight: 7.1 oz., 200 g.
