EVA BRAUN
(1912 - 1945) German mistress and later wife of Nazi fuhrer Adolf Hitler, she later committed suicide with him in the basement of the Chancellery. Rare A.L.S. 'Your Sister Eva' on both sides of her blind-embossed 7 x 4.25 in. correspondence card, Munich, [n.d., likely late in the war due to content], to her sister Ilse Hochstetter in Berlin. In full: 'Dear Ilse! So that you don't have to walk around in fur-trimmed clothes in the middle of summer, I am sending you a thin dress that I hope will fit. I don't have a blouse right now. If the black and white shoes are too small, send them back as they are very comfortable for me. Unfortunately I cannot send you underwear. But you still have 30 points and you can use them to buy clothes. I wish you all the best...' Heinrich Hoffmann bought Eva's villa in Munich on behalf of Adolf Hitler, who did not appear during the sale, for 30,000 Reichsmarks. Hitler later gave the villa to his lover, Eva. Sister Ilse, a nurse's aide, was responsible for saving Eva's life following one of her attempts at suicide.
