ALEXANDER A. DRABIK
(1910 - 1993) The first American soldier to cross the Ludendorff Bridge over the Rhine river at Remagen, Germany in World War II. He led two other enlisted men across the bridge, running over a thousand feet while under fire, knowing that the demolition charges attached to the bridge could be detonated at any moment. Dramatic color print showing U.S. soldiers crossing the Remagen Bridgehead, 23.5 x 20 in., signed at the bottom 'Sgt. Alexander A. Drabik' in blue ink. Creasing throughout, else very good.
