DMITRY USTINOV
(1908 - 1984) Marshal of the Soviet Union, Head of the Soviet Union's Department of Defense under Brezhnev, and Stalin's People's Commissar of Armaments during World War II, where he supervised the massive evacuation of the defense industry from the besieged city of Leningrad to east of the Ural Mountains. Stalin later rewarded Ustinov, whom he called 'the Red-head', with the Soviet Union's highest civilian honour, 'Hero of Socialist Labour'. Rare section of a typed D.S., 1p. 8vo., [n.p., n.d., but likely World War II-date], discussing the purchase of 40 tenoning machines from American and British companies. Ustinov signs at bottom in purple ink. Folds, else fine.
