ETTORE BASTICO
(1876 - 1972) Italian military officer before and during World War II, commandant of the Jado concentration camp, in Libya. In 1942, about 2,000 Jews and other 'undesirables' were rounded up throughout Libya and sent to the Jadu camp where 564 died from typhus and other privations. A.L.S. on 'Il Maresciallo d'Italia' letterhead, 1p. oblong 8vo., Rome, Jan. 22, 1954, written in Italian. Untranslated, signed at the conclusion. Slight damp stains and wear to the edges, else very good.
