FRIEDRICH WIESE
(1892 - 1975) German general who commanded the 19. Armee, a recipient of the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. Excellent S.P., 4 x 5.5 in. b/w, a contemporary chest-up portrait in uniform. Wiese signs twice in blue ink, adding rank with each. He signs once at bottom-left of the recto, and again on the verso beneath a lengthy inscription in German, roughly translated: 'Giesseu...17.4.1969...' The picture was taken July 1944 when I was Commander-in-Chief of the 19th Army in southern France... during the invasion of the 7th American Army'. Fine condition.
