(FRITZ TODT)
(1891 - 1942) Nazi military engineer who supervised the building of the Autobahn, the Siegfried Wall and the chain of submarine bases on the coast of France. As 'Reich Minister for Armaments and Munitions', Todt essentially managed the entire military economy throughout the war. A great find, a letter of congratulations from pro-Nazi Austrian explorer COLIN ROSS, 1p. 4to., Munich, March 22, 1940, congratulating Todt after his appointment to Reich Minister for Armaments and Munitions. In part: '…my heartfelt congratulations. I was extremely happy, personally and professionally…'. Ross signs at the conclusion in black ink. Light wrinkles, else fine. COLIN ROSS (1885 - 1945) was one of the most popular travel writers in Germany and Austria, and a staunch supporter of Nazism. Scared of being caught by Allied armies, he committed suicide at war's end in the house of his friend Baldur von Schirach.
