(1917 - 1994) American pilot in the Pacific Theater of World War II, the sole survivor of the 30 VT-8 aircrew from the USS Hornet who participated in the Battle of Midway. Signed print, 13.5 x 9.25 in., showing multiple angles of a Douglas TBD-1 torpedo bomber - the type of plane flown by Gay's squadron during their doomed attack in the Battle of Midway. Gay signs at the bottom-right in blue ink, adding 'VT-8' (or 'Torpedo Squadron 8'). Matted and framed to a total size of 19.25 x 15.5 in. Fine condition.
