HANS GUIDO MUTKE (8)
(1921 - 2004) Luftwaffe fighter pilot flying the Me 262A-1a jet. On 25 April 1945, Mutke landed at Dubendorf, Switzerland, flying the Me 262A-1a jet fighter, 'White 3', from 9. Staffel, Jagdgeschwader 7. He claimed that he got lost during a combat mission and landed there by mistake, although there were suspicions that he'd defected. Mutke also made the controversial claim that he broke the sound barrier in 1945 in an Me 262. Lot of eight signed items, includes: four brief A.L.S.s on his personal correspondence cards, all from Munich, 2002-03, in German an untranslated; three commemorative postal covers honoring Willy Messerschmitt and picturing an Me-262; and an I.S.P., 4 x 6 in., a photocopy of Mutke holding a model of an Me-262, signed in blue ink. Overall fine.
