(1905 - 2004) German U-boat commander in World War II, recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, and commander of 'Rosing's wolfpack' - a group of five U-boats that operated during the early stages of the Battle of the Atlantic, sinking a total of 27 ships overall. War-date D.S. as 'Fuhrer der Unterseeboote West', 1p. 8vo., July 14, 1943, an award certificate for the Wound Badge in Black, given to Matrosenobergefreiten Alwin Weber, a Sailor Corporal with the '1. Unterseebootsflottille' - the first operational U-boat unit in Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. Mailing fold, signature smudged, else very good condition. Sold with war-date U-boat booklet: 'Was Jeder vom Deutschen U-Boot Wissen Muss' ('What Everyone Should Know about the German Submarine') by Korvettenkapitan Max Bartsch (Berlin: Wilhelm Limpert-Verlag), 1939. 40pp. 8vo. Some wear to the cover, else very good.
