HAROLD R. L. ALEXANDER
(1891 - 1969) 'Alexander of Tunis', British general who commanded the invasion of Sicily and Italy. His blue ink signature 'Alexander' beneath a copy of a military order from Churchill to him. The document, 1p. 4to., reads in part: 'Your prime and main duty will be to take or destroy…the German-Italian Army commanded by Field-Marshal Rommel, together with all its supplies and establishments in Egypt and Libya.' Light horizontal folds, else fine.
