LOTHAR RENDULIC
(1887 - 1971) German general, led infantry behind the Panzer groups in France, led a division south of Moscow, fought partisans in the Baltics and led in the final defense of Berlin. Awarded the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves. Confrontational A.L.S. in German, 2pp. 8vo., [n.p.], Jan. 28, 1960, arguing with a potential buyer of his historical items. In part: '...thank you for your letter which makes it clear that we will not agree, your suggestions are far removed from reality. 1 DM [Deutsch Mark] for a war-time picture shows an underestimated value of the pictures. German newspapers pay 9 DM and 10 DM, and even I had to pay 10 DM per picture...To make it simple just keep the pictures you already have. I have decided that I will no longer discuss and write about this. Even if you offer a compromise, I will not accept it, your attitude shows that you are not willing...Neither will I give you the award certificate, which has no pleasant memories for me, or the telegram from Hitler to my birthday...' Rendulic signs at the conclusion in blue ink. Fine.
