(1867 - 1965) French general who fought under Foch at the Marne, and in World War II replaced the panic-stricken Gamelin as chief of the general staff captured by the Germans as he sought to join the Free French. Early T.L.S. 'Weygand' on letterhead of the Superior War Council, 2pp. 8vo., Paris, Nov. 14, 1929, forwarding his remarks about an article. Signed at the conclusion in black ink. Fine.
