PETER CHURCHILL
(1909 – 1972) British Special Operations Executive (SOE) officer in France. His wartime operations, which resulted in his capture and imprisonment in German concentration camps, and his subsequent marriage to fellow SOE officer, Odette Sansom, became a matter of international interest. Good content T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. oblong 8vo., Le Rouret, Sep. 9, 1960 to an American intelligence officer. In part: '...I am making inquiries as to Jack Churchill's present address through one of the other inmates of Sachsenhausen...If I ever come over to the States I will certainly give you plenty of warning...we shall have plenty to talk about...When I was in Chicago in 1952 or 3 I had the pleasure of bumping into your OSS man Halliday...he was a man of considerable worth and a great patriot. I am always pleased to meet men of any nationality who are prepared to make a sacrifice for an ideal...' Fine.
