ROBERT RITTER VON GREIM
(1892 - 1945) German Field Marshal and last head of the Luftwaffe, a Knights Cross winner involved in the invasion of Poland, the Battle for Norway, the Battle of Britain and Operation Barbarossa. His final words before taking cyanide were: 'I am the head of the Luftwaffe, but I have no Luftwaffe.' T.L.S. as head of Luftwaffe personnel, 1p.4to., July 25, 1938 to Major Walter von Teubern who had served as German ace Max Immelman's observer during World War I. Von Greim advises the old veteran that he is being removed from active duty but essentially keeping him enrolled as an officer for an indefinite period thereafter. Very good.
