ROBERT W. HASBROUCK
(1896-1985) American major general, commander of the Seventh Armored Division who personally directed his division's operations in Belgium to halt the German drive on Liege in the Battle of the Bulge. The division held a salient around St. Vith against four German divisions for six days, allowing the First Army to establish new defensive positions. Fine association war-date T.L.S. on official letterhead, 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Mar. 16, 1945 to Gen. CLARENCE R. HUEBNER (1888-1972), American major general who commanded the 1st Infantry Division in its assault on Omaha Beach, in the drive across France, at the Hurtgen Forest and in the battle of Aachen. Hasbrouck promises to read Huebner's letter to his command, and states the satisfaction of his men who had served under Huebner as commander of V Corps. He adds: 'We hope that conditions will again permit us to serve with V Corps , and in a real smashing offensive...' Fine.
