RODION MALINOVSKY AND SERGEY BIRYUZOV
Good pair of signatures on a partly-printed D.S., 1p. legal folio, 1947, the military attestation of Deputy Head of the Political Department of the Far Eastern Military District, Colonel Konstantin Ivanov. The document is signed by two Soviet generals: RODION MALINOVSKY (1898 - 1967), Soviet marshal who led the powerful Soviet Second Guards and sealed the fate of 250,000 German and other Axis soldiers trapped in the Stalingrad pocket, defeated 400,000 Axis troops in Hungary and headed Soviet Department of Defense under Brezhnev, and SERGEY BIRYUZOV (1904 - 1964), Soviet Marshal, a brilliant staff officer during World War II who helped plan and carry out the expulsion of all German forces from the Ukraine, and then helped plan and carry out the liberation of Bulgaria and Yugoslavia. Malinovsky signs at the bottom of the second page, adding 'Cooperates with occupied position', and Biryuzov signs at the top. Fold along left margin where disbound, else fine.
