GERMAN K98 MAUSER, 1943
German 1943 production K98 Mauser, serial number 7407C. This example has apparently been been reblued and the stock has been refinished, or at least varnished. An idiot vandal has used a metal pencil or other inscribing tool to 'add' the serial number '7407' to other parts on the rifle, although at least two numbers don't match. The chamber bears two waffenamt inspection stamps, one being the eagle '125' approval above the production code 'byf', and date of production '43'. Cleaning rod and leather sling are not present. The cupped butt plate is a flat replacement, not cupped as it should be. The bolt action on this rifle is smooth, with no hang-ups, the safety operable. Estimated accordingly.
