U.S. NAVY 3-INCH GUN DUMMY ROUND
Large practice naval artillery round, 35 x 4.25 in. dia., a one-piece spun brass dummy of a U.S. Navy 3-inch/50 caliber shell. The base is marked: '3In 50 Cal Dummy Cartridge Mk. 8n Mod. 1', with a serial number, and the maker's name 'S H Corp', with a serial number at center and on the side of the 'case'. The shell is housed in its original cardboard shipping box, identifying the maker as the Stahot Heater Corp. of Brooklyn, shipped to the Naval Ammunition Depot at Hawthorne, Nevada. Shows slight oxidation, else very good. Provenance: The War Museum, New York.
