AFRIKA KORPS 'PITH' HELMET
First pattern, cloth-wrapped Afrika Korps pith helmet with chinstrap, solid construction, with tan cloth exterior and red felt liner with air vent. The helmet bears the typical metal insignia at the sides - a tri-colour shield on right side and a shield of a German eagle clutching a swastika on left side. The ring holding the leather chinstrap holds a brass tag with the imprinted black numerals '908' (or '806'), though its purpose has gone unresearched. The interior of the leather sweatband is ink-stamped 'MM1941' and size stamped '55'. The chinstrap has been severed, with slight staining to the cloth and some cracking to the leather. Still very good condition. Should be seen.
