HARRY S. TRUMAN
(1884 - 1972) 33rd President of the United States who led the country in the closing days of World War II and through the re-building of Europe under the Marshall Plan and the Korean War. Good content T.L.S. on his professional letterhead, 1p. 4to., Nov. 18, 1955, to WATSON B. MILLER, long-serving Director of the American Legion Rehabilitation Commission, which aided the federal government in formulating a program to facilitate the care of disabled and wounded veterans. In part: 'Those letters from recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor must be wonderful and I wish we could work out something that would give those letters to the public and that the project which the man who died wanted to put forth could go forward. Maybe that could happen one of these days.' Truman signs at the conclusion. Near fine.
