JOSEPH KENNEDY, SR.
(1888 – 1969) American businessman, investor and politician known for his high-profile positions in government and for the political and other achievements of his children. Father of assassinated President John F. Kennedy and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Palm Beach, Dec. 28, 1940 to John G. Erhardt who had served as American Consul in London while Kennedy had served as Ambassador. In part: '...Well, Jack old boy, you were a swell scout to send along the Christmas wire...you and I know what a great thing it is to be back with our families...we must not let time go by...so that at least I will have the pleasure of repeating to you again how grateful I am for your help and assistance, and above all your unfailing loyalty to me all the time we were in England...' First letter is light (as written), near fine.
