(1913 - 1994) Thirty-seventh President of the United States who led during the Vietnam War, re-opened diplomatic ties with China and the U.S.S.R., resigned his office due to the Watergate scandal. Good pair of signed items, include: T.L.S. on Office of the Vice President letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Washington, May 22, 1956, thanking a 'Dawn Slater' for sending a gift to Mrs. Nixon, adding: 'Our daughters, Tricia and Julie, were most impressed with your skill in using a loom and Mrs. Nixon is very happy...they are as pleased as I am that you want a picture of me for your important collection.' Original horizontal fold, else fine. WITH: S.P., 8 x 10 in. b/w, a chest-up view of Nixon in a suit and tie, signed at bottom-right in black ink beneath a dedication to 'Dawn Slater'. Some bumps and creases to the right edge, else very good.
