(1777 - 1825) Russian Czar whose greatest achievement was the destruction of the armies under Napoleon leading to the abdication of the Emperor and Russian participation in the Congress of Vienna. D.S. 'Alexander', 1p. folio, St. Petersburg, Feb. 3, 1825, an Imperial Decree bestowing the rank of cavalier. Penned in an elegant, secretarial hand, and boldly signed by the Czar at bottom. Matted and framed to a total size of 12 x 17 in. Very fine condition, marred only by a few very slight creases, light vertical fold, and tiny binding holes at left.
