JAMES PUTNAM KIMBALL
(1836-?) American geologist and explorer who made the first recorded discovery and scientific exploration of a glacier. He discovered what is today Grasshopper Glacier in Custer National Park. A.L.S. 'J.P. Kimball' on Lehigh University letterhead, 2pp., [n.d.], docketted Nov. 1877 on verso, to U.S. Senator William A. Wallace requesting a recent senatorial document on silver currency and congratulating Wallace on his recent election. Good.
