FERDINAND VON ZEPPELIN
(1838–1917) German general and later inventor of the Zeppelin rigid airships. He founded the company Luftschiffbau Zeppelin.On 2 July 1900, Zeppelin made the first flight with the LZ 1 over Lake Constance near Friedrichshafen in southern Germany. rare S.P., 3.5 x 5.5 in. b/w, a postcard image of Zeppelin seated with German submarine commander Paul Konig, boldly signed at bottom in blue ink. The pair are labeled as 'The King of the Depths and the King of the Skies'. Some silvering at extreme edges, else fine.
