Vladimir Nikolaevich Mainov (1845-1888) - Russian teacher, ethnographer, geographer, and writer.

From a noble family.



In 1865, he graduated from the Alexander Lyceum. He attended a course of lectures at the faculty of history and Philology of Saint Petersburg University.



He worked in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of education.



He taught at the Helsingfors University, in the 2nd St. Petersburg cadet corps.



In 1875, he participated in the compilation of the "Ethnographic map of European Russia".



Full member of the Russian geographical society (RGS), Secretary of the RGS ethnographic Department.



As a popularizer of scientific knowledge and fiction Writer, V. N. Mainov is known under the pseudonym V. kornievsky.



He is the author of more than 40 scientific papers of historical and geographical content.



He was buried in the Usman district of Tambov province in the family estate.
