A SET OF TWO RUSSIAN BRONZE TABLE MEDALS

The lot includes two Russian medals: 1. A bronze medal commemorating the consecration of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. On the obverse, there is a cross, in the center, there is an All-Seeing Eye with rays around and the inscription: "NOT FOR US, NOT FOR US, BUT YOUR NAME: 1812". On the upper end of the cross is the crowned monogram of Emperor Alexander I, and on the other three rays of the cross there is an inscription: "FOR | FAITH | AND THE TSAR". Between the broadened rays of the cross are placed symmetrically four round medallions with bust depicting Emperors Alexander I, Nicholas I, Alexander II and Alexander III. On the reverse, there is an image of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The cross of the main dome is divided by an arc inscription: IN MEMORY OF THE TEMPLE CONCERNING | CHRIST THE SAVIOR IN MOSCOW. Under the trim the following three-line inscription: IN THE THIRD SUMMER OF REIGN | STATE EMPEROR ALEXANDER III. 2. A bronze medal struck for the second expedition of the Russian fleet to Finland in August 1713. On the obverse, it features the portrait of Emperor Peter I in Maximilian armor. Along the rim, there is an inscription: "PETRUS THE FIRST BY GOD'S MERCY THE RUSSIAN EMPEROR". On the reverse - the image of ships and boats in the sea, surrounded by the inscription: "HAVING HOPE IN GOD, WE WISH TO RECEIVE GOOD".

Dimensions: The diameter of the larger medal: 3 in. (7.6 cm.) The diameter of the smaller medal: 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.)
