His mother - Gittel, was the daughter of Rabbi Elazar of Lizhensk son of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk after whom he is named. Rabbi Elimelech was one of the most important rebbe of his generation, his first wife was the daughter of Rabbi Yerachmiel of Pishcha, son of Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchak of Pshischa ("the holy Jew"). From this marriage was born his famous son, Rabbi Klonimus Kalmish Shapira of Fyetsena with the 'Hovat HaTalmidim''. The holy genius The Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Landa, Av Beit Din of Cheknov [1784-1875], 'Rabban Shel Israel', one of the Torah geniuses and most important rabbis of his generation, a disciple in Hasidut of Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Pshizcha and Rabbi Fischel of Strikov. A disciple of mhara'l Tzunz. Known for his war in the "Decree of Clothing" together with the "Hidushey Hari'm". Was rabbi of Chehnov for fifty-five years. For many years he refused to practice rebbe. It was only in 1856, after the death of the Hidushey Hari'm, that Rabbi Elazar HaCohen of Poltusk succeeded in persuading him to accept rebbe, claiming that the gap created by the death of Rebbe of gur should be filled. Although he began to practice rebbe, made "tables" received "notes" and "redemptions", he did not change the two leaderships he had observed until then: he prayed the morning prayer in the Vatikin and in Ashkenazi costume. These two leaderships were exceptional in the world of Hasidut. Among those who came to Cheknov to gather in the court of the Cheknov Rebbe were Rabbi Avraham Bornstein, Rabbi Yechiel Meir of Gustinin and Rabbi Elazar HaCohen of Poltusk. [5], 104, IV p. 27.5 cm.
