Eight lithographic plates by A Leloir, published by Ch. Vallet lith. From the first edition of Bible and estampes - an experimental edition of stories for children that was published in Paris in 1860.
From the early works that lithographically described the stories of the Bible to children. From the beginning of the invention of lithographic printing some 60 years earlier [in 1796] printers preferred to provide the complex process of lithographic printing to the interest of adults, rather than risk printing pictures intended for children that might soon be destroyed usual in children's books.
Lithographs: Kayin and Evel, Noah coming out of the ark, Joseph in Egypt, Jacob and Esau, daughter of Pharaoh and Moses in the ark, King Jehoash, Esther, Daniel in the den of lions.
Thick paper. Size: 30x23 cm. Very good condition.
