Sefer Be'er Eshek - Venice, 1674 only edition, signed by Rabbi Yonah Navon.

Sefer Be'er Eshek, responsa in Halacha, by Rabbi Shabtai Be'er. Venice, [1674].

Rabbi Shabtai Be'er, among the scholars of Italy and Jerusalem (passed away c. 1674). Several of the responses which were printed in the book spurred criticism toward him, as did Rabbi Azaria of Pano's testimony that the author was shaven, and also the author's lenience in permitting the make Kiddush and Havdalah over wine made by gentiles. The Rabach wrote in reference to him:"It is improper to rely on the author of Be'er Eshek".

In the period of confusion which ensued with the appearance of Shabtai Tzvi, a question was raised over whether it was appropriate to continue reciting early-morning lamentations over the galut. In this volume, Rabbi Shabtai Be'er replied that the lamentations should be recited until "we emerge from slavery to redemption¦".

On page 132, there is a inscription signed by "Hatzair Yona Navon". According to specialists this seams to be the famous Rabbi Yona Navon.

Rabbi Yonah Navon [1713-1760] was the author of Nechpah BaKesef. He was the primary rabbi of the Chid"a, who referred to him as "holy and pious, G-dly kabbalist, rosh yeshivah and Av Beit Din, my true primary teacher" (in the introduction to his book Nechpah BaKesef). The Chid"a writes in Shem HaGedolim, "and there has almost never been an adjudicator like him in our region; he was pious and a kabbalist." He served as rosh yeshivah of Midrash Knesset Yisrael, which was founded by the Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh in Jerusalem.

There are several stamps by Rabbi Asher Anshil Jungreis.
