Letter from the Author of Minchat Ani to Rabbi Moshe Teomim, Av Beit Din of Horodenka

Interesting letter from the renowned gaon Rabbi Reuven HaKohen Rapoport, disciple of the Minchat Chinuch and dayan in the Tarnopol beit din, known by the name of his book, Minchat Ani, on the book Minchat Chinuch by his teacher. Exceptionally rare. No other letters from him are known.

In his letter sent to the gaon Rabbi Moshe Teomim, Av Beit Din of Horodenka, the author of Minchat Ani tells, inter alia, of his hardships until finally succeeding, with Heavenly assistance, to release his son, "The very sharp M' Moshe" from the draft. This son later succeeded his father in Tarnopol, and was known as "Rabbi Moshe Charif." In the letter before us, we see that already in his youth, he stood out for his sharpness as his father refers to him as "HaShanun" ["the sharp one"] (refer to Wunder- Galicia, Part IV, for more about Rabbi Moshe Charif).

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of the sender, the gaon Rabbi Reuven Rapoport, and of the addressee, the gaon Rabbi Moshe Teomim.

Approximately 12x12 cm.

Blemished: Tears with lack.
