Foundational work and a segulah! The rare Siddur HaRashash with all sections in one volume—second edition, Jerusalem 1916, copy owned by the Rosh Yeshiva of Shaar Shamayim

Thick volume containing all 9 sections of the Siddur HaRashash (a kabbalistic siddur) in three separated sections. Section 1: prayers for the chol days of the year. Section 2: prayers for shabbat. Section 3: prayers for holidays. (separate cover for each section). With kabbalistic kavanot throughout and various spellings of Hashem’s holy names based in mystical sources for most of the prayers, “by Rabbi Shalom Sharabi…a siddur of true kavanot throughout the prayers…this section was published with great awakening by the sages of Shaar HaShamayim yeshiva..”. Excited approbations from kabbalistic sages of the period including the Admor of Munkatch Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Shapira (the Darchei Tshuva), who wrote: “take this siddur in happiness, and take a blessing into your homes and for those with no wisdom this will awaken him and advise him to good and will be for wonderful preservation…”. [2], 86 leaves; Section 2: 161 leaves; Section 3: 36 leaves. Section 4: 115 leaves. Section 5: [1], 44 leaves. Section 6: 12 leaves; [1]. Section 7: 99, 60-63 leaves; Section 8: 69 leaves; section 9: 21 leaves. Pretty binding with leather spine and corners, worn, stains and signs of use, 2 bookmarks. One page detached. Important and rare book in excellent condition.


First title page has an important signature: “Ephraim Shmuel Lerner.”


Rabbi Ephraim Shmuel Lerner (1879-1962) was the son of Rabbi Mordechai, he served as rosh yeshiva of the Ashkenazi kabbalistic yeshiva Sha’ar HaShamayim in Jerusalem, was a founder of the Sha’arei Chesed neighborhood there, and founded the Gra synagogue there and served there as chazan for many years.
