GEORGE P. HARRISON
(1841 - 1922) Confederate brigadier general, commanded Fort Johnson, Morris Island and John's Island, where he was wounded twice, and reinforced Fort Wagner during the July 18, 1863 battle. During the course of the war, Harrison was wounded three times, and commanded a brigade during the Carolinas Campaign and at the Battle of Bentonville. T.L.S. on his railroad letterhead, 1p. 4to., Opelika, Dec. 12, 1890. Harrison sends an admirer some signed cards, and mentions that since his father's death, he had dropped the 'Jr.' from his name, but continues to sign with the suffix as 'my signature in Confederate times'. Fine.
