Photographies de Terre Sainte, Boulos Meo, Jerusalem. 1880-1890. 25 photos of Eretz Israel are mounted on the album sheets, mainly of Jerusalem and Jaffa. Photos by French photographer Félix Bonfils (1831-1885) and by the Adelphi brothers and Konstantin Zangaki. The photos are annotated in the plates, some only in French and others in English as well. Among the photographed sites: Jaffa and its shore line, the market in Jaffa, streets in Jerusalem, Jerusalem within the walls, Absalom's tomb, the Holy Sepulcher Church, the interior of El-Aksa, Robinson Arch and the Mamila Pool. Three photos are unsigned. The album was produced by Meo Boulos, a shop for souvenirs and photos in Jerusalem founded by a family of Italian origins. Bound in an olive wood cover with a carving of the Jerusalem cross. Average size of photos: 22.5X28.5 cm, album size: 25X32 cm. Album and photos in good condition, foxing to paper.
