A PAIR OF 18TH CEN. FLINTLOCK PISTOLS BY LORAIN
A pair of 18th-century flintlock hunting double-barrel gilt pistols, Damask barrels decorated with flowers and foliage, marked with gold inlaid letters: "The Lorain In Valencia - Twisted Cannon", caliber 14.5 mm. Steel lock plates are signed "Le Lorain", furniture engraved with flowers, hammers in the of a gooseneck also engraved with flowers and foliage; cut and engraved iron fittings, steel butt is engraved with a fleuron and inlaid with gold; carved walnut stock carved with floral motifs, silver thumb rosette; ramrod with horn tips with steel terminals. Louis XV period.Ca. 1750.
