A MONUMENTAL ICON SHOWING THE ENTHRONED MOTHER OF GOD Greek, Crete, 16th century Tempera on wood panel. Executed on a gold ground. The facial features accentuated through delicate white brushstrokes. The kekryphalos of the Mother of God rendered in blue, her maphorion in carmine with geometrically shaped folds, embellished with a golden hem and fringes. Losses. 82 x 53.3 cm.
