A LARGE ICON SHOWING THE PASSION OF CHRIST, THE RESURRECTION AND THE DESCENT INTO HELL Russian, mid 19th century Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. The haloes made of silver, covered by a golden lacquer. Each scene narrating an episode of the Passion cycle, the events identified by the inscriptions on the border, the detailed composition executed delicately with saturated colours. Paint blisterings, minor losses. 53.5 x 44.8 cm.
