Prison Castle Zamek Lublin enmate women 1941
Untersuchungsgefangnis. A prison established at the beginning of November 1939. It was located in the Lublin Castle, under the command of the SS and the Police District of Lublin. In the network of prisons of the Lublin district, they played a central role. Over 2,500, and in some periods as many as 3,000, were imprisoned in the prison for around 700 people. There were 56 cells in the prison, including 11 for women. Mass executions were carried out on prisoners by shooting in the prison yard and, for death cells, also by hanging (in the shed behind the prison chapel)The offered card comes from a period where the correspondence was very limited. The card is sent from Otwock near Warsaw by her daughter to her mother imprisoned in the Lublin Castle. Manual censorship deserves attention
